Malmian reef limestone

These are thick-layered to unlayered white-ash limestone. When examined under microscope (Karras, 1990) they are found to mainly consist of Lime Sponge colonies of the Upper Jurassic, as well as seaweeds (Cyanophyceae).

They also contain mollusk fragments, urchin ‘needles’ etc. The filler sediment (mudstone–wackestone to packstone-grainstone) contains several Tubiphytes morronensis (CRESCENTI) and sparse Classiocollaria cf. Intermedia (DURAND-DELGA). The sedimentation environment is assessed as reef to partly reef-genetic margin of calcareous platform.
